Time is passing and no clear choice is in sight. On top of that, you want to open your event’s registration so you can market your keynote speaker from the get-go.

It’s the same way when I go shopping, there are so many great choices it’s hard to know which is the best one to pick. Or my wife and I have to come to an agreement and we often end in a stalemate. 🎯

But the choice needs to happen! You cannot have an empty slot on the agenda with the registration open. Also, the availability of a speaker becomes more limited as the date of the event gets closer. You risk not having exactly what you want.

💡Set ground rules upfront. Who handles what; information gathering, analysis, availability and getting questions answered.

💡Agree on a scoring system to rate the speakers based on your organization’s criteria.

💡Have deadlines for each phase of the process. Research, analysis, final choices for consideration, final selection, and then a firm offer.

💡Always have a second or even third choice in case availability becomes an issue.

Follow these guidelines and the selection of your keynote speaker will be easy and even fun. It also provides peace of mind so that you can attend to other important aspects of your event.
