Should you hire a speaker with name recognition?

Could be a good idea or not!

The real question is, why do you want a big-name speaker?

? Your event will stand out as special and unique

? Leveraging their name recognition for marketing your event

? They bring excitement, energy, and an overall “buzz” to your event

? Awesome photo opportunities, stories, and memories that last a lifetime

Big-name speakers often come even with bigger challenges.

? Often costly

? Limited flexibility with the type of presentation (moderated conversation, prepared remarks, or otherwise)

? Sometimes restrictive marketing opportunities

? Low acceptance rate of an offer to speak

? Higher cancellation probability

Often the search for a keynote speaker who has name recognition overshadows getting the right fit for your theme and your audience.

Can you have a keynote speaker with name recognition that also fits your theme and serves your attendees?

Yes, but don’t fall into this trap…. Are you bringing in a keynote speaker only for…

? Using the speaker to attract more registrations

? Thinking you will attract more sponsors

? All attendees will just love it

How does all of this align with the goal of your meeting or your message or theme?

Why do you think you need a big-name speaker?

We book them all the time with great success, but we get clarity with our clients around the risk versus reward.

Are you doing the same?
