⛹ Recently, I had the pleasure of bumping into one of basketball’s greatest (and tallest) – the indomitable Bill Walton. Towering over me at 6’11” (although it’s been argued he’s a 7-footer), the basketball legend, broadcaster, humanitarian, bestselling author, and survivor wasn’t hard to miss.
? Perhaps the best-known Deadhead out there, having attended more than 1,000 shows, Bill Walton has lived a life of humility, inspiring others with his formidable physical and mental health journey. The subject of ESPN Films’ 30 for 30 “The Luckiest Guy in the World,” Bill suffered debilitating chronic pain throughout his life that compelled him to undergo 39 surgeries and contemplate suicide more than once.
? ?Today, Bill is regarded as one of the most treasured, optimistic, and motivational keynote speakers from the world of sports. He consistently inspires and entertains audiences with personal tales from a storybook career and an arduous life filled with twists and turns, peaks and valleys.
? It was indeed an honor to stand side by side with this remarkable man. Well, sort of.
