Biography
TV news anchor Charles Gibson originally planned to study law when he was attending Princeton University, but during his tenure as news director for the university radio station, he changed his direction toward journalism. He would work as a news anchor in Lynchburg, VA, before joining ABC News in 1975, carving out a niche for himself covering the House of Representatives. He would go on to help host World News Tonight, Nightline, 20/20, and Good Morning America, before hosting World News with Charles Gibson in 2005. During that time, he would co-moderate a 2008 presidential debate. In 2009, Gibson announced his retirement, leaving the anchor desk at World News to Diane Sawyer.
