You want more from your team but cannot seem to get optimal performance from each team member.

This is something I grapple with on a daily basis. Especially when a breakdown occurs, and they inevitably will. How do I get the maximum results from my team?

As a leader, I sometimes experience impotence in my efforts to pull the team together. This then snowballs into a vicious cycle of frustration and taking more on myself.

Below are a few things I learned that turned the tide and have my team be more effective.

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ญ๐ž – but don’t just pawn off tasks, ask team members for input on what tasks they can do

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐Œ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐“๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ – be inclusive and open about what are priorities and what needs to get done

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐ƒ๐จ๐ง’๐ญ ๐Œ๐ข๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž – provide space for members to explore and fail

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐„๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ – be clear and straight in your communication

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐†๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ญ ๐…๐ž๐ž๐๐›๐š๐œ๐ค – establish a culture of feedback as an ongoing part of being on the team

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐‡๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐š ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž – make everyone aware of the big goals and the context within which you are operating

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐๐ž ๐€๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐œ don’t hide anything

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ž ๐‚๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ซ, ๐€๐ญ๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ง๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐†๐จ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ – set everyone up for winning

Implement some or all of these and your teams will perform optimally.
