Book Dr. Jade Wu through The Keynote Curators
Biography
Dr. Jade Wu’s journey into sleep science began in an unexpected place: the Chinese Space Agency.
While growing up on its campus, her father worked with the country’s first space crew to explore how sleep changes in orbit. These early experiences filled her childhood dreams with stars—but as Dr. Wu delved into neuroscience, she discovered her true calling in a different kind of “final frontier”: the human brain, where the mysteries of sleep and dreaming offer boundless possibilities for healing and innovation.
She went on to earn her PhD at Boston University, where she led research in collaboration with Harvard Medical School on the role of sleep in neurocognitive performance. She then completed residency and fellowship at Duke University School of Medicine, where she expanded her clinical research to the interplay between sleep and cardiovascular health. Her leadership in public education has earned her recognitions like the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine’s BSM Champion Advocate award.
Today, she is the Founder of Thrive, where she helps people build resilience through better sleep. Her insights have reached millions through national media appearances on platforms like NPR and ABC News, and through her book Hello Sleep: The Science and Art of Overcoming Insomnia Without Medications. Known for her compassionate, science-forward approach, Dr. Wu has cultivated a passionate following among those seeking a smarter, kinder alternative to “sleep hygiene” advice. Her audiences often describe her message as “liberating,” “refreshing,” and “life-changing.”
At home, you’ll find her napping daily and dreaming up new ways to make the world a better rested place.

Talk description:
Your team already knows that sleep is important for performance and well-being. But when they have a demanding career and family obligations, it can feel like there’s no room for optimizing sleep. Or perhaps they do prioritize sleep, but buying gadgets and following “sleep hygiene” rules have not helped much.
In this paradigm-shifting talk, Dr. Jade Wu will make a case for why we should treat sleep as a friend instead of a project. You’ll see how 8 uninterrupted hours is not how the human brain evolved to sleep, why sleep hygiene is not the answer to insomnia, and practical tips like what it means to “nap responsibly.”
In this engaging keynote+workshop, your team will learn:
How to figure out (and implement) your own ideal patterns for healthy sleep
How to fall asleep and stay asleep more easily, even when life is stressful
How to get the most out of your sleep without overhauling your lifestyle and workstyle

"Your philosophy when it comes to how you approach sleep is much more important than the actual specific particulars of the products around you."
- Dr. Jade Wu"We want somewhere in between where we're both nurturing and prioritizing our sleep, but we're also flexible and adaptable. And when we approach sleep in this way, in this philosophy, that's how we unjunk it."
- Dr. Jade Wu"Sleep is something we earn with what happens during our day. Because sleep essentially is recovery."
- Dr. Jade Wu"When you're sleepy, that means you haven't gotten enough good quality sleep [...] the cure for sleepy is simply to sleep. But the cure for tired is usually something else."
- Dr. Jade Wu"We have to live our life to the fullest, and we have to perform the way we want to perform [...] be in our day, be in our life fully. And that's when sleep will actually respond."
- Dr. Jade Wu"Think of your sleep not in terms of dollars or cents [...] if your portfolio is kind of generally invested with the right philosophy and going in the right direction. You're fine."
