You know the saying, ‘One doesn’t get a second chance to make a first impression?’ Well, it turns out introductions do matter.
? Studies have revealed the importance of introductions in virtually every field. They set a tone, establish trust and respect, and can even signal a person’s approachability factor. It’s the first chance you have to make a lasting impression.
Your introduction sets the stage for a successful speech by generating excitement, establishing speaker credibility, and reinforcing their message. ?
So, how can you ensure your keynote gets a memorable introduction?
? ???? ??? ??? ??????????:
? Share your connection to the speaker. Tell your audience if you’ve followed them online or had the chance to see them speak.
? Ensure you know how to pronounce the speaker’s name. John Travolta mistakenly made that assumption from one of the biggest stages in the world.
? Rehearse. Be so comfortable with your introduction that you can engage visually with the audience.
? Know your speaker’s preferences. Live intro on stage or Voice of God? Handheld, lapel, or podium mic? Water or another beverage?
? Inform your audience about their presentation format. If questions are allowed, ensure attendees know how and when to ask them.
? Don’t spoil the surprise. The introducer is there to generate excitement, not share key points of the speech. No one wants to know the end of a movie during the preview.
