Book Richard Hadden through The Keynote Curators

Biography

Richard Hadden is a certified speaking professional, author, and leadership consultant who focuses on the connection between people and profit. He is co-authoring the popular Contented Cows leadership book series, including his and Bill Catlette’s latest book, Contented Cows STILL Give Better Milk, and Rebooting Leadership.

Richard developed and practiced his leadership skills as a manager in both financial services and information technology. He was director of product development for a software company in North Florida before starting his own technology consulting business in 1986. Gradually, his consulting focus shifted from information technology to human resources, leadership, and management.

While consulting, he taught software design, principles of management, and international economics at Jacksonville University from 1988-1991.

In 1990, he delivered keynote presentations and training programs on leadership and employee engagement for more than 1200 audiences on five continents. In 2000, he received the Certified Speaking Professional designation from the National Speakers Association. This is the highest earned designation in the speaking profession.

Richard has appeared on CNN and MSNBC, and his work has been featured in Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, and Inc. magazines, as well as in many trade and professional publications.

A classically trained vocalist, Richard served 8 years on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus and now serves on its Advisory Board. He loves to cook – primarily because he loves to eat. And even though he travels a lot in his business, he loves to travel for fun. His favorite destination is his wife Christine’s native Scotland. Richard and Christine have two young adult children and live in Jacksonville, Florida.

Recruiting and Retention in the New World of Work

Practical. Tactical. Do this. Don’t do this. How to find, and keep the talent you need to grow your business in this tough-as-ever labor market.

This presentation can be delivered in-person, or virtually.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Where to look for people with the greatest potential to be happy, productive, and successful working in your organization.
- What’s more important than skills and experience.
- How to create and manage an employer brand that captures prospects’ attention (in a good way) before they ever even apply.
- What the “careers” section of your website MUST do (and probably doesn’t), if you want to attract high-potential candidates.
- How to (and not to) deploy social media in the quest for talent.
- How to interview to find the right people.
- Why your onboarding “program” isn’t helping build commitment in new hires, and how to fix it.

Objective: Learn how to find, recruit, hire, onboard, and keep talented, committed people producing in your organization.

Audience: Organizational leaders, executives, senior staff, managers, supervisors, leaders in development, Human Resource Professionals.

Leading from a Distance: In a Remote/Hybrid World

While the fundamentals of leadership have NOT changed, the context in which leaders practice those fundamentals HAS.

Compared to practicing leadership in a traditional setting, leading from a distance carries its own special set of challenges. While people still need, among other things, vision, feedback, performance management, recognition, and community… delivering these necessities is harder, but not impossible, when we’re separated.

Current conditions are keeping many of us apart. But your job as a leader is to bring people together.

We can help you do that.

HIGHLIGHTS:
- How to support your team members, individually, and as a group, when some, or all, are working remotely.
- Special things you have to do in a hybrid setting – when some are remote, and others are together on site.
- Stop talking about the “Post-COVID” workplace, and focus instead on “Workplace Next”.
- The importance of team synergy, or the “Spirit of the Hive”, and how to nurture it from afar.
- Tips and adjustments for remote location communication and engagement.
- How to manage performance when you’re not there… and neither are they.
- Leading and inspiring hope in times of tremendous change.

OBJECTIVE:
Teach leaders how to achieve stellar results with their teams, while working remotely.

AUDIENCE:
Organizational leaders, executives, senior staff, managers, supervisors, leaders in development.

Contented Cows Give Better Milk: Your People...Your Profit

Based on the book, Contented Cows STILL Give Better Milk. Not your average “leadership” speech. The Contented Cows keynote presentation helps leaders make the connection between the work environment you create… and your organization’s profitability.

Using facts, not faith, we demonstrate that Employee Engagement has a direct bearing on business outcomes.

Your People…Your Profit – The Keynote

• A compelling analysis of the employee engagement practices of the best-in-class employers
• Inspiring examples of other companies that know how to do it right…and a few that don’t.
• Entertaining…irreverent…thought-provoking, and action-inspiring!

The OOMPH! Factor: Making the Extra Mile the Best Part of the Trip

In “The Oomph Factor: Making the Extra Mile the Best Part of the Trip”, I’ll talk about what some of the most successful women and men do every day to keep their organizations thriving, and growing in the right direction.

I’ll lay out 8 things I’ve observed about people I call “Extra Milers” – those who routinely demonstrate Employee Engagement and Discretionary Effort, and go above and beyond in pursuit of their organization’s mission.

A few examples:
- They know that “just because you don’t have to doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.”
- They’re optimists.
- They don’t worry about whose job it is, whose fault it is, or who gets the credit.
- Through impactful stories, humor, and practical application, I’ll help the people in your organization make the Extra Mile the best part of the trip!

OBJECTIVE:
For all members of the team, managers and non-managers alike, to see their individual role in the organization’s success. To see how they can make the “extra mile” the best part of the trip!

AUDIENCE:
Everyone in the organization.
