Book Stephanie Stuckey through The Keynote Curators

Biography

Stephanie Stuckey is the dynamic Chair of Stuckey’s, the beloved roadside oasis renowned for its iconic pecan log rolls and nostalgic appeal. Born into a family steeped in entrepreneurial spirit, Stephanie carries on a legacy that began with her grandfather, W.S. Stuckey, Sr., who founded the company in 1937 as a humble pecan stand in Eastman, Georgia. From these modest beginnings, Stuckey’s grew to encompass over 350 stores across the United States, becoming a cherished stop for travelers seeking unique Southern treats.

The evolution of Stuckey’s is a remarkable story of resilience and family ties. The company was sold in 1964, but in a full-circle moment, it has returned to the family and is undergoing a significant resurgence under Stephanie Stuckey’s leadership. Taking the reins in November 2019, she has infused the company with her own vision and passion, bringing fresh energy and innovative strategies to a brand with a rich heritage.

Under Stephanie’s guidance, Stuckey’s has embarked on a transformative journey. She spearheaded the purchase of a state-of-the-art pecan-shelling and candy-manufacturing facility in Wrens, Georgia, enabling the company to regain control over the production of its famed treats. By revamping the distribution operations based in Eastman, she ensured that Stuckey’s could efficiently reach both retail and online customers, laying the groundwork for impressive growth. In a bold move, Stuckey’s expanded its product line by acquiring a healthy pecan-snack company, providing consumers with new, nutritious options while staying true to the brand’s roots.

Stephanie Stuckey has also placed a strong emphasis on modernizing Stuckey’s image. With a complete rebranding of its products and website, she has successfully tapped into the nostalgia of the brand while appealing to a younger generation of consumers. This strategic approach has yielded remarkable results, including a staggering 550% increase in online sales during a time when many businesses struggled to adapt to the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Stuckey’s has opened four new franchised stores and expanded its B2B retail customer base, further solidifying its presence across the country.

Stephanie Stuckey’s academic foundation is as impressive as her professional achievements. She earned both her undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Georgia, where she cultivated a passion for justice and advocacy. Following her education, Stephanie worked as a trial lawyer, where she honed her skills in negotiation and legal strategy. Her dedication to public service led her to be elected to seven consecutive terms as a state representative, enabling her to shape policy and make impactful changes within her community.

In her pursuit of environmental justice, she founded an environmental nonprofit law firm that successfully settled the largest Clean Water Act case in Georgia’s history. This pivotal experience underscored her commitment to sustainability and inspired her later role as the Director of Sustainability and Resilience for the City of Atlanta. Through her efforts, Stephanie Stuckey has not only advocated for cleaner environments but also promoted sustainable practices that protect Georgia’s natural resources for future generations.

In addition to her professional roles, Stephanie is an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, sharing her expertise with the next generation of legal minds. Her contributions to leadership and community service have not gone unnoticed; she has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend Magazine and is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta.

A committed community member, Stephanie serves on multiple nonprofit boards, including the Initiative for Affordable Housing, EarthShare of Georgia, and her local zoning review board. As a longstanding member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, she remains actively involved in various outreach initiatives.

Stephanie Stuckey’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, innovation, and community. By reviving Stuckey’s and honoring its legacy, she not only fulfills her family’s dream but also enriches the lives of countless people who pass through the doors of this iconic roadside destination, continuing the tradition of joyful connection through delicious treats and heartfelt stories.
