Biography

David was the original institutional investor in Hanson Robotics Limited in 2014 through the investment platform he co-founded, AngelVest Group – greater China’s most active international early-stage investor group. David’s investment in Hanson Robotics has increased several times, and he has since invested in other AI, Fintech, and blockchain opportunities. He is a frequent speaker at investment and technology events – focusing on investing in AI, blockchain and cross-border deals with China.

David is also the Founding Chairman of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of China, with a mission to provide an educational and networking forum for Harvard alumni interested in angel investing. Previously, he worked in a variety of corporat finance and product development roles at companies including Salomon Brothers, Advanced Micro Devices, and Honda Motors.

David earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and MBA from the Harvard Business School, and studied Chinese at Peking University. He speaks English, is uent in Mandarin Chinese and conversant in Japanese. Mr. Chen has been living in Shanghai for over 12 years, and spends time between Greater China and New York.
