Biography
Jim Furyk is one of the most recognizable and accomplished golfers on the PGA Tour, known for his unique swing and consistent performance. Raised in the game by his father, Mike Furyk, a golf pro, Jim’s only instruction came from his dad, shaping his signature looping swing. After a standout college career at the University of Arizona, where he led the Wildcats to their only NCAA title, Furyk turned professional in 1992 and joined the PGA TOUR in 1994.
Known as “The Grinder” for his steady, deliberate play, Furyk won at least one tournament each year from 1998 to 2003. Despite wrist surgery in 2004, he returned to top form, finishing second on the 2006 money list and hitting his peak in 2010, when he won three PGA TOUR events, including the prestigious Tour Championship, and claimed the FedEx Cup. That year, he was named both PGA and PGA TOUR Player of the Year.
Off the course, Jim and his wife, Tabitha, founded The Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, based in Jacksonville, Florida. Their foundation is dedicated to helping families and children in need, partnering with organizations like Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital and Blessings in a Backpack to strengthen communities through health, education, and support initiatives.
Furyk’s career is a testament to his dedication, resilience, and the importance of staying true to what feels natural—both in golf and in life.
