Biography
Kendra Scott is a self-made entrepreneur, designer, and philanthropist known for founding her eponymous jewelry brand, which has grown into a billion-dollar company. Scott started her business in 2002 with just $500, designing her first jewelry collection from her spare bedroom while pregnant with her first child. Her brand is now recognized globally, with over 130 stores across the U.S. and a thriving e-commerce platform. Kendra’s designs, characterized by the use of natural gemstones and unique shapes, have become a favorite among celebrities and fashion enthusiasts alike.
Beyond her success in business, Kendra Scott is deeply committed to philanthropy. Her company has donated millions to various causes, particularly those supporting women and children’s health and wellness. In 2019, she founded the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, aiming to empower and support the next generation of female entrepreneurs. Scott’s journey is marked by resilience and a commitment to “doing good,” a principle inspired by her late stepfather.
Her story is one of overcoming challenges, including the failure of her first business venture, and ultimately building a brand that reflects her values of family, fashion, and philanthropy. Today, she continues to inspire others through her speaking engagements, where she shares her insights on entrepreneurship, leadership, and the importance of giving back.
