Biography
Tony Fadell is an engineer, best-selling author, and speaker with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share. With many years of experience in the technology industry, he is a highly sought-after speaker, full of valuable insights that audiences can apply to their own lives and businesses.
Since 2010, Tony has been the principal of Future Shape, an investment and advisory firm offering global startup funding, collaboration and coaching. In 2010, Tony also founded Nest Labs, creating smart home products and serving as CEO for six years until selling the company to Google in 2016.
Tony served at Apple for more than nine years from 2001. Initially joining the organisation as an external consultant, he quickly became Senior Vice President of the iPod division and eventually Advisor to the CEO. During this time, he proved instrumental to the company, co-creating and working on the first three generations of the iPhone. Tony is perhaps known for his monumental work on the development of the iPod.
Before joining Apple, Tony served as the founder and CEO of Fuse, a tech startup company. Philips Electronics also employed him before that – spending four years at the company as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Director of New Business before becoming the Vice President of Strategy and Ventures.
Along with his design and technology prowess, Tony is also the author of Build (2022). The critically acclaimed book has appeared on several bestseller lists, including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today and Amazon.
Tony has been the recipient of numerous awards in recognition of his services to technology. These awards include the Golden Plate from The American Academy of Achievement, CNN 10 Thinkers, 100 Most Influential People and 100 Most Creative people from Time and Fast Company, respectively, and the Alva Award for “The Next Serial Inventor”. The iPod, iPhone and Nest Learning Thermostat have also been listed among the 50 Most Influential Gadgets of All Time.
Tony has addressed and engaged with global audiences at various speaking engagements, including TED. As a speaker, he is highly sought-after for his ability to share his wealth of knowledge and experience in an easily digestible way.
