Planning your day to achieve goals is one thing. Sticking to the plan is another.
Meeting and event professionals excel at multitasking, but time management is a challenge for many. How can you find time for that when you can’t even find time to eat lunch? It’s a skill that takes mindful practice.
Time management starts with self-management. Your performance will suffer if you don’t tackle each day by focusing on essential things and setting boundaries for yourself.
So, how can you manage your time without losing your mind?
? Plan out every day. Identify tasks that need to be accomplished by EOD. Keep it manageable.
? Get ahead of next week. While planning for today, think of tasks due next week. Prioritize and identify those requiring more resources. Block time on your calendar now.
? Avoid distractions. Be mindful of disruptions – external and self-inflicted ¬– that cause you to stray off course. Find a quiet space to work.
? Plan for the unplanned. Something unexpected will always pop up, so leave some wiggle room in your calendar for surprises.
? Take time for you. Take a short walk or coffee break, or meditate for 15 minutes. You can be the best planner, but it won’t matter if you’re burned out.
